There were sleepless nights due to the violent attack of diseases, there were times of intense sufferings and hardships. There were occasions of blame and accusations. There were moments of misunderstanding and helplessness. She never felt any regret over it since she found an interior happiness in the midest of all these sufferings.

Pulsatilla or pasque flower is a plant which flowers during the Paschal/Easter season. Its flowers are very beautiful and sweet smelling; they are considered as symbols of deep love and of personal sacrifice for the sake of love. Women who, like the pulsatilla plant, produce ‘flowers’ of dedicated love, self-less service and amiable feminine virtues, such as, goodness, generosity, gentleness, beauty and a constant affectionate disposition, are called "pulsatilla women".

We Christians are seeking ways and means to eradicate suffering and bring peace and happiness into the world. If suffering is not good and welcome in it self, why do we praise the sufferings of Alphonsa?
